| The
Alliance for Bovina is a grass roots organization whose goal is to
preserve the town's rural, agricultural and scenic character, while
promoting the economic future of Bovina through appropriate development.
Community members who were looking to understand this complex issue
and why it was happening in Bovina, a town that cherishes the beauty
of the mountains, started working together to pool resources and
coordinate efforts. In April 2006, the Alliance for Bovina was incorporated
with three directors, Larry Karam, Hall Willkie and Tom Craviero. |
Since
it was founded, many Bovina residents have joined the effort, and
we have become stronger and more effective. The Alliance helps with
fundraising and pays for things community members are doing to educate
each other about industrial wind turbines. The work is being done
by loosely knit groups of neighbors. Some people work together on
a topic of mutual interest. Others take on projects where their skills
are especially useful. Others contribute by reaching out to their
neighbors with information and encouragement. Many of us in the Alliance
help to focus attention on the Bovina Town Board where the final
decision about industrial wind turbines will be made for our town. |
