About Us

The Alliance for Bovina is a grass roots organization whose goal is to preserve Bovina's rural, agricultural and scenic character, while promoting the economic future of Bovina through appropriate development. The organization started in response to commercial wind turbine developers' plans to profit by destroying Bovina's mountain tops by clear cutting forest land for 400 foot wind turbines.

The Alliance was incorporated in April 2006 by its three initial directors, Larry Karam, Hall Willkie and Tom Craviero. Since its founding, many Bovina residents have joined the efforts of the Alliance. Together we were able to stop commercial wind turbines in Bovina. In March 2007 the Town Board voted to amend its zoning law and ban wind turbines.

Today, Bovina is faced with new and challenging issues. The Alliance for Bovina continues in its educational efforts by publicizing current issues and important events in Bovina and surrounding towns.
